Marcus is an electric multi-hyphenate artist from Harlem, NY who has always had a knack for picking up new skills at extremely fast rates.. especially as a child. After a month-long ‘Kids Cook! Intensive’ at Columbia University, he landed himself an audition and a spot on the original season of ‘CHOPPED JR.’ on the Food Network at the mere age of 11.

Marcus actually grew up not performing at all but playing competitive basketball for 19 years. Known for his size and wingspan, he played for the top teams across NYC in the AAU circuit as well as his school divisions. He was even offered some full-ride scholarships to notable universities in the USA.

Always an avid church choir member, Marcus’ heart always longed for the stage. He recalls admiring his older sister’s dance career and involving himself in school/community art programs whenever he could. He HATED basketball. At 16 years old, Marcus revealed to his parents that he no longer wanted to play the sport and wanted to pursue the arts full-time.

This resulted in Marcus transferring to the Special Music School at Kaufman Music Center his sophomore year of high school. He matriculated into the Classical Voice program and received his first voice lesson ever in 2019. Falling in love with music and opera, he worked hard, eventually joined one of the top show choirs in NYC, and soon landed himself on a full-ride to the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. There, Marcus was able to blaze his own trail by being one of the first students to receive a degree that combined elements from the Musical Theatre, Dance, Voice, and Acting departments. Since then, he has graduated and grown to love his new life of performing professionally, choreography, and a commitment to providing arts access in poverty-stricken communities. He hopes to professionally pursue a career in theatre, commercial dance, and film/TV.
